Aeon Lore is a flexible holiday usually observed by scholars on the 3rd Saturday of August. It first observed in the cityof Opalis in the year 167 P.C. This holiday began as a way to promote scholarship among the people of the city. After the city was destroyed in theObsidian War, refugees from Opalis continued to practice this tradition where ever they settled with greater emphasis on the preservation of knowledge.
Common Practices
Common traditions include trading books and scrolls of an academic nature and engaging in games of an intellectual nature,especially riddles and puzzles. The trading of books is especially popular with the trading of all kinds of books becoming more and more prevalent.
Scholars and mages often gather on this holiday for special events. More recently the practice of magic tournaments among mages have become popular, including the emerging sport of Gustball.
Tradition Food
Traditional foods are varied but largely include dried fruits, assorted nuts and simple food stuffs that can be eaten at one’s leisure so as to reduce the need to break from study or research projects.
