R60 Livestream Reward: Construction Set Update [Forum Post by Scott “Scottie” Jones] Hello folks, and happy May! Spring is well under way of being “sprung”, so-to-speak, which means it’s time for Spring cleaning and building! At least, that’s the lame excuse I’m going to use for why I’ve only recently finished all these lovely construction deco pieces that we promised folks from the R60 Livestream… Honestly, though, I know it’s been awhile, not only since R60, but also since I last had a chance to create a fun post! The last post was full of little delicate pastries and other small goodies… This time around I got the chance to put together some things for you that will allow you to set up a construction area for building cool stuff on your property at a nice and large scale! So here we go! “What the heck is going on here?!?!?”… you may well wonder… This is me going a little nuts testing various configurations of the deco objects I assembled on my little village-sized property on my test map! To give you an idea of how I got to this, let me tell you a story that starts with Starr giving me a small task that essentially just said “We have various construction decorations; cranes, pulleys, etc… They just need to be turned into player decorations… Make a set of 3 of them… Well, by this point, you know me…and not only did I need more information to go on, I really felt that this was an opportunity to go “above and beyond” that simple task to create a set of “somethings” that would really make ME happy if I got my hands on them as a player… I, of course, imagined much more than just three simple items to throw around your yard… After taking stock of what we actually had available, I made the determination to create a broader “family” of Construction Decorations that are more correctly “finished” compared to the meager items that we’ve purchased from various 3rd-party sources… For instance, though we do have an enormous “crane” object, and we’ve used it a few times in various places, it needs significant work before it can be actually handed out as a player deco (re-scaling, proper new collision shapes that allow it to be placed using the deco-tech, the addition of something to finish off the rope that hangs down and can be seen to be a “hollow” mesh, etc.)… We also have a “pulley” object, but it’s very tiny (literally two pulley “wheels” connected by rope with a hook on one end and an unfinished end of rope on the other), and it wouldn’t do for a stand-alone “prop” (it needed to be attached to the crane or some other structure)… Plus there’s a variety of other individual things that I could assemble to look like little “staged” areas of construction with stuff that might do, but they needed some serious assembly, collision re-work and testing (for functionality’s sake), along with a quick pass to help “normalize” the various textures and materials used across the array of individual objects I chose to work with… My goal, in this case, was to create more than a few “stand-alone” props, and instead create a true “family” of deco props meant to allow players to create a entire “construction themed ZONE”, so to speak, to really make your construction efforts look cool while “in process”, and giving you all at least one true tool (scaffolding assembly) that would actually help you create bigger, cooler stuff using many of the other building decos you already enjoy using… As such, here is the list of items that have been created (six in total) as an entire “family’ that can be used together to create the feeling of an active “construction site”, while still making them all primarily using only objects (and bits of objects) already found in our game in various places: Construction Scaffold Walkway: this “centerpiece” to this entire deco “family” of prop objects is a large, multipurpose single-level (5 meter tall) scaffolding platform and access ramp that not only looks cool by itself, but can also be stacked atop itself as desired (while standing on top of the upper platform) to build up to whatever height you may need, to make it easier when constructing tall or large-scale props (or combos of props, such as building blocks and “outside” chimneys) when building on your property. In addition, I was able to get this prop to adopt the player-house tech that allows it to not only have other deco objects placed on its horizontal “floor” surfaces, but ALSO allows the hanging of small-enough wall lanterns, and wall sconces for candles and torches on its four primary support beams. This is something that we hadn’t thought possible before (concerning deco objects), but after much testing and paring down of possibilities, I got it to work AND got it to allow the whole thing to be picked up and moved with all attached objects remaining in their assigned locations! You can even set the crane (seen below) on top of this as well! This is the only prop among this “family” (all made from 3rd-party items) that I needed to take into 3DS MAX to change and re-import its geometry as a new mesh to suit our needs. As such, it was fairly easy to make “function” as far as placement went. The time-sync, in this case, was making all the other deco-placement scripts function properly. Construction Crane: a prop to be used to indicate large-scale construction “machinery”. It looks great, is partially the scale of the larger world-builder prop I’m sure you all have seen here and there, and has been outfitted with another “pulley and hook” world-builder prop that couldn’t stand alone by itself. This whole device now looks a bit more “complete” (although under close scrutiny, it’s evident that it couldn’t do the things it looks like it should be able to do at first glance, such as tilt and rotate its “arm” like an actual crane)… This was the second most difficult prop to make function as a deco, due to a variety of poorly-made collision boxes that had to be remade and re-positioned, plus the “rigging-together” of the pulley/rope section attaching it. I started to try to fix its mesh (to make it look more truly functional), but it would have taken too much additional time, so the effort was scaled back… Still a beautiful piece, though. Construction Stone Wagon: this complex prop consists of a wagon filled with multiple sizes of simple, rough-hewn stone blocks along with piles of stone rubble “filler” to look like the kind of thing often used while constructing walls in the Middle Ages… This has been set up to be a “shelf/table”-style prop so that it can hold other props placed on any of its larger horizontal surfaces (you’ll see images of this later). There are piles of rubble on the ground around and under it as well, to make it seem like it’s meant to stay in place for awhile, while the area is “under construction”. This was a fairly simple prop to assemble, but as with many of these props I composed, figuring out the reasons why certain collision and mesh shapes were causing issues with placement functionality was the real time-waster… I actually temporarily broke the build with this one! Yay! It’s all fixed and ready for use now, though… Construction Planks: a complex prop consisting of a variety of smaller world-builder props such as some scrap-assembled construction tables, a number of different, decent-looking wooden planks in several piles (either on, beside, or under the tables), and even a static hand-saw of a variety not available as an actual stand-alone deco. It kind of ends up looking like some kind of crafting table, but it’s really just meant to be a gathered collection of “in-progress” wooden boards… They all needed to be stripped of extraneous and over-complicated collision shapes, and new generic collision created, but this one came together fairly swiftly, and was both place-able and functional as a deco almost immediately. This, too, has been set up to be a “shelf/table”-style prop so that it can hold other smaller props placed on it. Construction Ropes: a fairly simple, but decent-looking prop used to create a little rope-storage deco item that can be placed all over a construction site to add visual flavor. There is a small coil of rope hanging on a peg, a larger coil sitting beside the post, and a small length thrown on the ground around the base. Additionally, it is set up to allow small wall lanterns, hanging wall candles, and small torch sconces to be placed on any side of the post that doesn’t have the hanging rope hung on its hook. This came together fairly easily, but required a LOT of experimentation to get it to be place-able properly as a deco, along with allowing it to share the wall-deco tech normally reserved only for player house walls. The result of this, however, is what allowed me to outfit the Scaffold Walkway, above, with both the ability to have place-able deco on both its horizontal AND vertical surfaces. Quite exciting! Construction Barricade: a prop to be placed in front of anything “dangerous” looking to the general public. This is made from an existing sign we use to designate unfinished scenes, as many of you may have already seen. However, that sign is written in English, while THIS sign has been changed to be written in Runic so as to fit better into the visuals of the world. This, by far, was the easiest one to convert to a functional piece of player deco, but it makes a fun addition to be placed all over any construction site you choose to create! Now, of course, seeing these as individual items gives you a good idea of what to expect, but nothing gives you the effect they are supposed to have as well as placing them together as a “family”! Here they are all chaotically crammed in among one another in my test scene! It may all look like mass-confusion at first (because I intended it to ), but here you can see all six of them gloriously working so well together (plus a few additional props that work nicely with them)! Below you can see a close-up of the wagon full of stone, the barricade, and the rope-storage post. Please note that I have placed several additional items on top of the stones (such as the head of lettuce and the pickaxe), and I’ve even leaned a deco shovel up against the wagon’s side… They all play so nicely together! To the left you see the ramp up the nearest scaffolding. At ground level, a wooden streetlamp like the one you see here makes for some excellent illumination in and around all the elements… Turning slightly left you get a close-up of the scrap-tables of lumber (with a few extra tools set atop it), the ropes again (this time with a small hanging lamp that works nicely with these pieces hung on the post), and more of the scaffolding with another cart of stone tucked away in the background. Further left still you can now see the crane again, with a protective wall around its base made of multiple barricade objects! You can never be too careful! I think I used eight or nine of the scaffolding walkway pieces together to make the bulk of the visible impact here. Each piece itself is fairly simple, but start stacking them up on top of each other, and building them up side-by-side, and you’ll quickly achieve something of grand proportions! To the right, in the image below, you can see the lamp I have hanging off one of the main support beams, plus a little gift box peaking out on the floor above! All for the sake of testing! This probably excites me more than it should, but getting that to work was both tough and rewarding! As a quick aside, you can see here, below, an image of me placing one of the scaffolding platforms one atop the other. That’s about the best place to stand when doing so, and you can get the sense of scale in proportion to most characters… It can work either aligned just like the one below, or it can be turned around each time for even faster ramp access as you see in this image! Before I started testing all these pieces, I realized I had to dismantle the barn I had full of OTHER test deco objects (remember my “barn of treasure”?)… I was loathe to do it, because of the time I’d spent filling it with piles of gold, zombie containers, and sweet treats,…buy once I started creating this construction site I ended up having a blast! It was so cool to play around with different lighting schemes and walking around underneath all the scaffolding, and it was so easy to place them in all sorts of complex-looking configurations! Once I had them all placed at various levels, I then realized that it was also a lot of fun hopping around between the different platforms and objects, and up and down the ramps… It had the feeling of parkour! I wish our game could make your character tumble athletically when you land, if you jumped a great distance or height. I had to settle for rolling sideways and then taking huge leaps of faith… And rightly so! Falling off these things could be dangerous! They are definitely not “OSHA compliant”! Anyway,…that’s all for this post. Hopefully you found it amusing and are looking forward to playing around with the pieces too! I’m not sure how Starr will decide to distribute them, but I’m assuming a certain number of them will be provided to those who participated in the R60 Livestream. Hopefully additional ones can either be crafted, and/or perhaps purchased in even greater quantities so that you can go wild creating a huge “under construction” play-scape like I did! For the time being, here’s a final image of my test character sitting down after this madness, and enjoying the view, with my feet dangling while precariously perching on a bench I set up at the very edge of one of the platforms! Take care, my friends, and enjoy the rest of this fine May weekend! Sincerely yours… Scottie ^_^ Deco Contest Finals Livestream Today Another content packed weekly Community Livestream is this Friday May 10 at 4 PM CT on Twitch! I am happy to officially announce a new deco contest, the 2019 Shroud Deco Challenge! Due to the significant prizes involved and our desire to keep the entries to a modest level, there is an entry fee of 100,000 gold or 1000 crowns. You can enter by either contacting Atos during one of his live streams or simply sending an in game mail with the gold or crowns. Players have until Sunday, April the 27th at midnight to enter. Players who enter will be assigned a village plot in the dev town of Mount Midir. You must provide your own village deed. They will have roughly 3 weeks to deco the lot to their liking. Atos will be stopping by the town several days a week to check out the progress people are making on his live stream. The contest starts immediately and runs until Saturday, May the 4th, when Atos and others will do a special 4 hour stream to inspect the player’s work! For each house, Atos will do a fly through showing off the house and decorations and players can vote. These will last roughly 1 to 2 minutes each so voters will need to be on their toes! The tentative plan for voting is that all viewers will be allowed to vote once per house. They can give it a 1 to 10 rating. To reduce groups artificially up/down voting, the top 25% and bottom 25% of the votes will be thrown out and the average of the middle 50% will be used for the final score. This will be handled by a streambot and results will be displayed in real time. After the quick initial pass on the houses, the top 10 scoring homes will get a second, longer fly through and a second round of voting. If the homeowner is present and wishes to, they can join Atos on Skype to briefly describe their home themselves! The winners of this second round of voting will determine the official winners! The prizes will be as follows: First place will win their very own overworld player owned town and a tax free town deed! Sannio will work with them to choose a location that is acceptable to them. Second place will receive a tax free town deed. Third place will receive a tax free village deed All entries that make it to the top 10 will receive a large unique decoration celebrating their accomplishment! All players who enter the contest will receive a small unique decoration. Additionally, the devs present on the stream will choose and award prizes for the following categories: Most chaotic decoration themed – Think, where would Darkstarr want to live? Most nostalgic decoration themed – Think, where would Lord British want to live? *cough*make it feel like Ultima/UO*cough* Most whimsical – Think, where would my 5 year old daughter want to live? These will each receive a special prize (2500+ crown value) appropriate to their theme and the same unique decoration given to the top 10 scoring homes. Finally, there will be a prize for the highest rated lot that uses only crafted, collected, or purchased with gold items from merchants items. No crown or cash shot items allowed. The prize for this category will be 5000 crowns. To prevent players from doing all their decoration in secret and then moving their house in at the very last minute, starting in Release 65, Mount Midir will be flagged to not allow the use of the magical movers. Part of the reason for this contest is to help show off what amazing things are possible during video streams and we won’t be able to do that if everything happens in secret! Also, should Mount Midir fill up, we will add an additional nested POT to handle the overflow. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing the town quickly grow into an amazing showcase! Q2 2019 Update Greetings Avatars, The first quarter kicked off 2019 with a huge bang! We added the Envy Angel (another seasonal boss), more expansions to the Player Made Dungeons (including Encounters!), Back Slot Items, Pronged Weapons, Pirate Items, Massive Repricing, Fertilizer for Agriculture, Crown Store Polish, Baby Dragons and Tons of Quality of Life Improvements! The second quarter is going to be just as amazing as Q1! We will have Crafting Specializations (choose your effect!), the ability to flag your Row Lots as empty (crops!), the return of the Atavists of Purity (seasonal boss/creature), Episode 2 areas, Raid groups (groups of groups) and more quality of life improvements. Stay with us for Episode 2 which will have a new story, new lands, a revamp of the Quest and Journal system, a Theater System, Treasure Hunting with treasure maps that show up as loot, Item Affinity, Taming system expansions, Customizable NPCs, and expanded permissions for containers and doors! As we have stated previously, we intend to publish quarterly schedule updates detailing our monthly releases and those monthly releases will continue just as before, on the last Thursday of each month. Even though the goals outlined in these schedules are likely to change somewhat as we react to feedback, we feel it is important to periodically provide you with an updated roadmap. Our priority continues to be to deliver new content to our players regularly, so that you can give us feedback that will help us iteratively improve Shroud of the Avatar. This collaborative process continues to benefit the game, and often results in sweeping changes such as the recent balance passes to combat. As you have seen in previous releases, the flexibility inherent to this process means that we sometimes push things out, but we also often pull new things in. Q2 Top 10 Priorities: As mentioned previously we keep a running list of our Top 10 priorities at all times that we use when building our schedule and prioritizing where to allocate our team’s resources. We often refer to it when making decisions about the project. While it has a VERY strong influence on what we work on at any given time, it does not mean that we only work on something that is on the list. It just means that if someone can assist with something that will help address an item on the list, then we will make sure they do that first before working on anything else. Sometimes team members cannot assist with anything on our top priorities, so they work on other tasks such as visual polish, combat balance, or content that helps us raise funds. Quality of Life: We will continue to make general improvements to quality of life by removing slowdowns and annoyances in gameplay. Systems and User Interface Polish: Polishing and improving existing systems will continue to be a major focus. This will take priority over new systems. We will also continue to polish various UI elements. Bug Fixing: We will continue to focus more on fixing bugs versus new content and new features. Performance: While the game is much more playable now we feel there is still more to be gained so in Q1 we will continue making code and content changes to improve performance. New User Experience Polish: We will polish and improve various elements of the New User Experience. Seasonal Content: Content to support Summer events will be brought back. Improved Reward Cycle: We will continue our focus on systemic and game-wide upgrades to the quality and quantity of loot. Player Made Dungeons: We will also continue to add new features and content to the Player Made Dungeons feature. Shipping Phase 3: Collector’s Boxes will ship to those who did not get theirs in the first or second rounds. Episode 2: New areas for dwelling and adventure related to Episode 2 will go live. As always, all dates, durations, and deliverables are subject to change as we adjust our designs based on direct feedback from you, our players. RELEASE 65, April 25, 2019 Performance: Performance work will mainly focus on improving frame rate and reducing hitching during gameplay. Work will also continue to be done on load time reduction on the few outstanding scenes that are not meeting our 15-second load time target. Combat: A pass will be done on summoned pet balance. This will include additional party bonuses based on pet type. Crafting & Economy: Fertilizer will now be able to be used in Agriculture to affect the outcome. Players will also be able to purchase items from the “Vault” section of the Crown Shop which will feature rare, previously-expired items that will be available for a limited time at a premium price. Player Towns & Player Housing: Our first ever paintable homes will also go live! Additionally updates to Dynamic Player-Owned Towns (POTs) that have locked submission forms will appear in the game. Livestream Content: We will add recent livestream stretch goal items. RELEASE 66, May 30, 2019 Story: The first area associated with Episode 2 will appear! Performance: Performance work will mainly focus on improving frame rate and reducing hitching during gameplay. Work will also continue to be done on load time reduction on the few outstanding scenes that are not meeting our 15 second load time target. Combat: Players will be able to join multiple groups into large Raids (groups of groups). Crafting & Economy: Crafters will be able to choose a single Crafting Specialization (Smithing, Tailoring, Alchemy, Carpentry) which will allow them to choose effects during Masterworking or Enchanting (versus random selection). Player Towns & Player Housing: We will provide lot owners the ability to flag their Row Lots as empty which will open up the ability to do things like plant crops on Row Lots for the first time ever! Additionally updates to Dynamic Player-Owned Towns (POTs) that have locked submission forms will appear in the game. Livestream Content: We will add recent livestream stretch goal items. RELEASE 67, June 27, 2019 Story: The Luminous Atavist has returned from hiding! Some residents of Novia are not pleased with the sudden and voluminous influx of Outlander immigrants. The Atavists of Purity have vowed to rid Novia of the Outlander scourge. “Their houses crowd our fair towns! Their wares compete with those of native Novian merchants!” yells their leader, the Luminous Atavist. He and his lieutenants, the Knight Purifiers, have been known to ambush unwary Outlanders on the road. They are even swelling their ranks with common folks who call themselves Unifiers. Performance: Performance work will mainly focus on improving frame rate and reducing hitching during gameplay. Work will also continue to be done on load time reduction on the few outstanding scenes that are not meeting our 15-second load time target. Crafting & Economy: Upon achieving Grandmaster in a crafting school you will now unlock a set of new exclusive effects for Masterworking and Enchanting. Livestream and Seasonal Content: We will add recent livestream stretch goal items as well as the return of Lord British’s birthday recurring items. We continue to be incredibly thankful for the support we receive from this amazing community. While the financial support you provide makes all of this possible, it pales in comparison with the faith you have in us, the feedback you provide us, and the content you are making for everyone to enjoy. We are humbly grateful, and we are always excited to see you each month in New Britannia! SOTA NewsRelease 65 Instructions

[From a forum post by Starr “Darkstarr” Long] Avatars, Please read this entire message, as well as the linked Player Guide and Known Issues. Release 65 of Shroud of the Avatar goes live this Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 AM US Central Time (15:30 UTC). Release 65 is the first release in which we focused on the current iteration of our Top 10 Priorities (from Q2 2019 Schedule Update). While we made some progress on these priorities we had to spend a significant amount of time patching issues with Release 64 related to our upgrade to the latest version of Unity compounded with the vacations of two of our engineers. This caused us to have to delay some of the goals for Release 65 to a later date. I want to express a huge amount of gratitude to the players who tested the items listed below on our QA server. They found many bugs and also provided editorial feedback on this post so that it is easy to read and actually matches what is in the game. Before offering feedback and/or reporting a bug, we kindly ask that you read this whole message and the linked Player Guide and Known Issues to get up to date on the current game state. To keep up to date, please check out the Patch Notes. By taking a few moments to read through this information, a great deal of our time and effort can be focused on new “unanswered” questions and addressing critical issues that impact each release. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to review this post and for all the truly valuable feedback you continue to provide. Also, remember that while we are providing new content with each release, our community is also working overtime to make new events for you to enjoy. Be sure to check the schedule for player-run events (via the player-run websites: NBNN Community Calendar & Avatars Circle). You can also get the latest official events on the Main Website. Without further ado, here is a list of what you can expect to see in Release 65. Key: Plain Text: The original plan for the Release deliverables from the Q2 2019 Schedule Update. We intentionally preserve the original text so that our backers can compare plan versus actuals. Italics: Detailed notes of what was actually delivered. Strikethrough: These are items that did not make the release (but are still planned). RELEASE 65, April 25, 2019 Performance: Performance work will mainly focus on improving frame rate and reducing hitching during gameplay. Work will also continue to be done on load time reduction on the few outstanding scenes that are not meeting our 15-second load time target. Terrain Performance: With the terrain related issues from the previous release resolved, we will be enabling terrain instancing support on the GPU for most scenes. This will reduce the load on both the CPU and GPU. Native Code Generation: For Windows platforms, we are attempting to use a new system that allows us to prebuild more heavily optimized native code. For Windows clients, this brings a significant performance bump. We will be testing this on Windows for Release 65 but will investigate using it on all platforms in the future. Vegetation Shader: Trees and shrubs have received a major update that dramatically improves their performance on both the CPU and GPU. Combat: A pass will be done on summoned pet balance. This will include additional party bonuses based on pet type. Tamed Pet Balance: Last release work was done to bring summoned pets up to a more respectable level. For R65 we took a pass at evaluating tamed pets. The primary thing that stood out was their lower than expected DPS in combat. All tamed pets should see roughly a 25% increase in DPS. Additionally, the Wyvern’s poison attack now also adds a weakness effect and drains a small amount of focus. Young White & Black Dragons: We added the two remaining color variations of the young dragons to the Plains Encounters. When the Novia version of the dragon wave starts, there is a very rare chance to spawn a young white dragon. In the Hidden Vale version, there is a very rare chance to spawn a young black dragon. Summary of young dragon locations: Black: Plains Encounter (Hidden Vale) Blue: Grunvald Shardfall, Plains Encounter (Novia), Plains Encounter (HIdden Vale) Green: Grunvald Shardfall Orange: Grunvald Shardfall Purple: Plains Encounter (Hidden Vale) Red: Plains Encounter (Novia) White: Plains Encounter, Plains Encounter (Novia) Yellow: Northwest Blackblade Mountains Wave Battle Improvements: Some wave battles may now have one or more waves that repeat for a specific time. If one of these timed waves is defeated too early, it will repeat until the time requirement is satisfied. Also, the timing of wave battle activities should be better synchronized for all players involved. Xen Penetrator Bow Balance: The power of this bow has been reduced very slightly. The Strength Damage Divisor has been adjusted from 12 to 14 and the max charge level for it has been reduced from 8 to 6. Dodge Changes: Targets that are stunned will no longer be able to dodge attacks. Targets which are rooted will have their dodge chance cut in half. Chaotic Poison and Unicorn Blood Poison Balance: Both of these have had their chances of unleashing their most powerful effects dramatically reduced. These poisons are primarily used for PVP and were quite unbalancing in some builds and these changes are meant to help provide some balance. Party Pet Bonuses Delayed: Work on patches for Release 64 delayed our work on Party Pet Bonuses. Crafting & Economy: Fertilizer will now be able to be used in Agriculture to affect the outcome. Players will also be able to purchase items from the “Vault” section of the Crown Shop which will feature rare, previously-expired items that will be available for a limited time at a premium price. New Rare Random Encounter Merchants: There are now two new rare random encounter merchants who will sometimes appear after the boss is defeated and will sell the players items for in-game gold. There is a Sculptor who sells tabletop versions of the Greco-Roman style statues seen around Xenos as well as wooden versions of our creature and elf statues. There is also a Peasant Clothing merchant who sells the clothing worn by female peasants of Novia. Wood Pulp Refinement: The Wood Pulp recipe is now part of refinement and Refinement bonuses are now available. Paper makers everywhere rejoiced! Hourglass Recipe: This new recipe, which can be found on Alchemy merchants, requires Elemental Sand found on Sand and Earth Elementals. Item Weight Changes: Crafting results now weigh less than source materials for most recipes. This resulted in tweaks to the weight on many different items. For the most part they were reduced but a few were increased. Food, crafted components, armor, creature components and arrows in particular had their weight reduced. Scrap is the one category of item that the weight is too low and was increased. Batch Consumable Recipes: We added batch versions of recipes for some consumables (Found on alchemy merchants). These include: Recall Scroll, Teleport Scrolls, Lesser Healing Potions, Lesser Focus Potions, Healing Potions, and Focus Potions. Taming Simplifications: We made various changes to Taming to make it more easily understood and used, especially for new players. Name Changes: All references to “Summoning Whistle” have been changed to “Taming” including the name of the crafted necklace is now “Taming Necklace.” Taming Necklaces: A less powerful Taming Necklace has been added that will allow taming to be more accessible to new players. The “Wooden Taming Necklace” has reduced durability and makes taming more difficult but can be purchased at Taming and Outskirts merchants. Taming Collars and Animal Collars: The recipes related to the taming collar has been simplified to not require the animal collar component crafted from tailoring but to instead require those ingredients. The active “Taming Collar” recipe has been updated. A discoverable recipe has been added that works the same as the old recipe for the existing animal collars. The animal collar recipes is not being removed from the game, just removed from circulation. The Vault: Players will now be able to purchase items from the “Vault” section of the Crown Shop which will feature rare, previously-expired items that will be available for a limited time at a premium price. The rules of The Vault are: Name Change: Items that are re-released into The Vault will have “Vault Edition” appended to their name that defines them as re-released and therefore different from the original items. This name will be visible in inventory, when trading items, etc. Premium Pricing: The items in The Vault will generally be more expensive than similar items currently in the store. Reserved List: Original Kickstarter / Pledge Items will not be appearing in The Vault. Pledge items are considered reserved. All other items have a chance to appear in The Vault. Fertilizer Delayed: Work on patches for Release 64 delayed our work on fertilizer. Player Towns & Player Housing: Our first ever paintable homes will also go live! Updates to Dynamic Player-Owned Towns (POTs) that have locked submission forms will appear in the game. Decoration Scaling: After numerous player requests, we now allow select decorations can now be scaled slightly (plus or minus 20%). Note that trophies that already have a scale factor (such as for trophy fish) and many items that are interactive (crafting stations, beds, chairs, etc.) cannot be scaled. Decoration Flipping: A limited number of items will now also allow flipping them over to show the other side (like we allow for books). This will not be available on most items. Tabletop Greco-Roman Statues: These tabletop versions of the Greco-Roman style statues seen around Xenos can be purchased with in-game gold from the new Sculptor merchant that can appear on rare occasions in random encounters (see above). Tea Service: This plain Tea Service can be purchased from any Decorations Merchant for in-game gold. Dungeon Encounters: Encounter versions of the 3 dungeon rooms from the Challenge Dungeon have been added. The blueprints should now drop from creatures there and the conversion recipes have been added for existing rooms. These encounters are less challenging than the other rooms for those seeking something a bit less demanding. Wooden Statues: Wooden versions of our creature and elf statues. These can be purchased with in-game gold from the new Sculptor merchant that can appear on rare occasions in random encounters (see above). Great Knight’s Tent: This tent has been added back to the Tailoring Merchants and can be purchased with in-game gold. Pipe Organ: This plain Pipe Organ can be purchased from any Music Shopkeeper for in-game gold. Lord British Cupcakes: Scottie added four unique visual Lord British cupcake decorations (Ankh, Lattice, Swirl, Rosette) to go with the four different years of Lord British Birthday Cakes (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018). The colors of the cupcakes sync with birthday cake of that year. Here is the updated reward list for the Lord British Birthday Cakes: Fireworks (Red Missiles) x5 Fireworks (White Missiles) x5 Fireworks (Blue Missiles) x5 Two Random Potions (Focus, Restoration, Acumen, Might) Four Consumable Cupcakes (Ankh, Lattice, Swirl, Rosette) [Updated from single Ankh Cupcake] Lute, Flute, Wax Cylinder Cost Increase: The in-game gold cost for these items has been increased to better support the crafting economy. Paintable Homes Delayed: Although we were able to get the supporting tech in for Paintable Homes, work on patches for Release 64 delayed our work on the User Interface and content work on the homes for the Paintable Homes feature. New and Updated Dynamic POTs: BloodMark: Added new City southeast of Brittany. Castle Anthrax: Added new Holdfast nested in Jade Valley. Jade Valley: Adjusted interconnection teleporters. Metallicus: Upgraded to Hamlet. Mount Midir: Added developer POT (for contests and events) southeast of Brittany. Livestream Content: We will add recent livestream stretch goal items. Release 60 Stretch Goal Items: We have completed more of the Cornucopia-themed Release 60 Stretch Goal items and hope to address the one remaining item (Construction Decorations) in Release 66. Dragon Polearm (apologies for not delivering in R64) Dragon Sword (apologies for not delivering in R64) Traveler Wagon Release 61 Stretch Goal Items: We have completed all of the Dark Winter themed Release 61 Stretch Goal items. Haunted Yule Tree Set (apologies for not delivering in R64) Haunted Sleigh Icy Dungeon Cathedral Room Icy Dungeon Encounter Room with Fishing Spot Release 62 Stretch Goal Items: We have completed many of the Carnival themed Release 62 Stretch Goal items and hope to address the two remaining items in Release 66 (Basement Hatches and Dungeon Ballroom). Masquerade Mask Jester Mask Wand Jester Mask Staff Pinstripe Tuxedo Jester Outfit Carnival Colors (Purple, Green, Yellow) Cycling Dye Replenishing Box Damask Lace Wedding Dress Female Peasant Wearables: The clothing worn by female peasants of Novia are now player wearables. These can be purchased from the new Peasant Clothing merchant that can appear on rare occasions in random encounters (see above). Quality of Life Hot keyable toggle for tooltips for inventory: Added option to disable tooltips for inventory list, added key mapping to toggle option, defaults to “,” (comma). Gold and Pooled Experience: These are now shared between characters on the same account. Story: Deep Ravenswood: A pass was made to revitalize this once popular scene without dramatically changing its personality. Spawn counts in the scene were greatly increased in the woods surrounding the stone outcropping. The undead area in the middle has also been reworked slightly to move more spawns closer to the ruins that are a popular camp. Additionally, rare higher level spawns were added including a new mini-boss that has 2 new artifacts. Necropolis Barrens: The season for Envy Angel and her wisps is over. They have been temporarily removed from this scene but will return next year. Noreach: Most NPCs in this scene now have local dialogue. One in particular, a seer at the docks, warns that those who sail to the north disappear and never return. Find Sigrunn if you want to help her in her quest to investigate these disappearances! Solania Catacombs: The daemon now appears after killing a few waves of enemies, allowing his reset time to be shorter. The key to unlock this secret room will drop as loot more often and a note has been added to hint about where to find that key. Soltown: Fixed an issue where completing the task to give Stanley the notes from Edvard wouldn’t clear his quest waving or compass marker. Yew: Added “Rune Bag” daily quest as a spin-off of Sigrunn’s disappearances quest mentioned above. Once you get to a certain midpoint in Sigrunn’s quest, you’ll be able to help Pendro in his mystical research by providing him with a new rune bag each day. Thank you so much for reading all the way here to the end! The rest of 2019 will continue to be an amazing year for Shroud of the Avatar players! Crafting specializations (choose your effects!), Row Lots with Open Space, Grandmaster Craftsman only effects, Mannequins, more loot improvements, more expansions to the fishing system, better boss fights and more. Join us for Episode 2 which will have a new story, new lands, a revamp of the Quest and Journal system, a Theater System, Treasure Hunting with treasure maps that show up as loot, Item Affinity, Taming system expansions, Customizable NPCs, and expanded permissions for containers and doors! Player Towns & Player Housing: Players will have the ability to add custom conversations to their NPCs (shopkeepers, POT NPCs, servants, etc.). Player Towns & Player Housing: Players will have the ability to add custom conversations to their NPCs (shopkeepers, POT NPCs, servants, etc.). Additionally updates to Dynamic Player-Owned Towns (POTs) that have locked submission forms will appear in the game. Player Towns & Player Housing: Players will have the ability to add custom conversations to their NPCs (shopkeepers, POT NPCs, servants, etc.). Additionally updates to Dynamic Player-Owned Towns (POTs) that have locked submission forms will appear in the game.
